Many of us who work from home have the luxury of determining our own schedule and setting our own pace. Like me, you may have self-imposed deadlines, but as well agree to other’s timeframes.  Managing motivation can be a challenge because 

For myself, I am easily motivated, I like to see results and please my clients. There are times though, when I hit a lull. Getting motivated might be as easy as reviewing your goals, getting a cup of coffee, or being on the receiving end of a pep talk.    

If you find yourself chronically unmotivated, though, here are a few things Dr. David G. Javitch, of Entrepreneur.com, recommends.     

#1 Determine if it’s an attitude issue or a task issue. Is there an underlying reason you may not want to be so involved in your work at this time? The options here are numerous. It may help to ask a friend or manager for their objective opinion.    

#2  Does you work no longer challenge you? Is it diifficult to stay motivated because you’ve been doing the same thing for so long? This may be key for many of those who are working for someone else from home. Many of the tasks you may be doing are not as challenging as they once were. I suggest looking for ways to expand your skill level. Consider cross-training with another employee or simply asking for a more challenging project.  

#3  Identify past motivators. What has worked in the past to motivate you and what IS working for you now? You may have had more face time with clients in the past and now are missing out on that.  

Staying motivated and goal oriented are key to running a successful at home business. To amp up your productivity and business re-evaluate your goals on a regular basis.
